Short Report – QA/QC Meeting May 2020
Meeting Date: 28 May 2020
Participants
LH, SG, MG, RM, IF, AS, WE, TB (8)
Info
- If you are (Tech-)SRP, please attend QA/QC meetings or tell LH if you can’t, needed for planning of the meetings.
- SRP & Tech-SRP: please prepare short statement about your site and send to to LH (max. 2 sentences)
- The purpose of QA/QC meetings is to check on current, incoming data. SRPs choose specific issues we should look at together and discuss in the group. Fluxes are checked if the respective SRP wishes to do so.
Talking Points
- Many flux scripts are now open source on GitLab:
- FCT Flux Calculation Tool: Wrapper for converting ETH eddy covariance raw binary files to CSV and to calculate fluxes using EddyPro.
- FQC Flux Quality Control: Script for quality control of ecosystem fluxes calculated with EddyPro.
- CGC Calibration Gain Correction: Apply gain to selected eddy covariance raw data columns.
- SNODEN Snow Detection Now: Snow cover detection from webcam images (from internship).
- Refined list of Available Flux Products: Overview of calculated fluxes.
- Updated page Webcams: Most recent webcam images from SFN sites.
- New Page Swiss FluxNet Hub: Collection of links that we use often.
- After calculating fluxes, be sure to check the
_scf
(spectral correction factor) variables in the EddyPro full_output file: if there are many (most) values larger than 2, this means that the spectral correction has probably not worked and the fluxes might be overestimated. - Checking fluxes H2O, CO2, CH4, N2O
